I joined ATEL as an English teacher years ago, and I became a member of ATEL higher committee last year, in winter 2007. For a whole year participating in decision making, I admit that we could provide English teachers all over Lebanon with qualitative training. It’s crucial here to mention that we could successfully achieve our goal despite the dramatic and difficult situation Lebanon went through and unfortunately still is. 

What Did ATEL Achieve in 2007?

- ATEL could reinforce its library with various and numerous references. Our library is full now with thousands of books that can surely draw your attention and satisfy your needs as an English teacher. 
- ATEL ran various workshops around Lebanon. These regional workshops dealt with different educational topics that can help teachers develop further their teaching skills.  ATEL did not only limit itself to regional workshops, but it also provided the opportunity to four members to attend workshops in Dubai.
- Many students from different schools in Lebanon presented the Cambridge exams under the supervision of ATEL. 
- ATEL 10th annual conference took place on Saturday November17th despite the unstable situation in the country. Almost 500 English teachers attended the conference and benefited from the various workshops and presentations given that day. We really appreciate the presence of all those who attended and participated in this conference. We’re looking forward to seeing you and many others on the coming conference that will be held on Saturday May 3rd, 2008.
We have also produced a DVD to tell you more about ATEL. This DVD was playing during the conference under the heading “A Closer Look at ATEL”.
 - You can also have the right to your 2007 newsletter and agenda by simply being an ATEL member. Moreover, you can benefit from the 20% discount that Librairie du Liban offers to all ATEL members.
 
What Is ATEL Planning in 2008?

- We are working hard to provide you with more specialized teaching books that you can check in ATEL library.
-We will equip ATEL office with a LCD, DVD, video, and TV set that will be available to teachers' members.
- ATEL promises you, dear English teacher, to make all the information and material you need accessible through its website that will be launched very soon.
- ATEL is organizing a lunch on April 12th in a restaurant that will be specified later. We are looking forward to seeing you then.
- As usual, ATEL is organizing various regional workshops that will take place from Saturday February 23rd to Saturday March 1st. (Please check the schedule sent to your schools). Also, ATEL is planning to send more teachers members to attend training workshops abroad.
- As mentioned earlier, ATEL 11th annual and international conference will be held on May 3rd, 2008. You can profit from the available workshops and presentations about education and English teaching..
 - ATEL will also provide its members with an official copy of the certificate of attendance that will carry ATEL official stamp.

What Does ATEL Expect from Its Members?

ATEL is the platform for members who would like to publish interesting experiences relevant to school/university teaching in Lebanon.
ATEL encourages you to share a personal experience about a certain technique or an interesting activity that practically worked in your classes. Your experience would appear in the next ATEL newspaper in the “Personal Experience” section.
